Caribbean waters off the coast of Puerto Rico
The Caribbean is famous for its cerulean blue waters, and we were eager to play in them. I had heard good things about taking a catamaran cruise around the waters surrounding Puerto Rico, so we lined one up through East Island Excursions. The cruise would take us to Icacos, a protected island and reef just off the east coast of Puerto Rico.
We slathered on sunscreen and were on our way. We perched at the front of the boat and were splashed by waves as the catamaran cut through the choppy water.
Our first stop was near an Icacos beach, where we could lounge in the fine sand and snorkel in the water. Oh, and tote our Caribbean cocktails around with us too.

Our second stop was at a nearby reef where we could see all kinds of colorful fish playing among the coral. Being the children we are, our favorite part ended up being launching ourselves down the water slide.
We were content to be on vacation forever.

The Lowdown:

  • Catamaran company: East Island Excursions
  • Cost: $75.00 per person
  • Location: Fajardo, Puerto Rico
  • Would I recommend it? Yes. The boat was clean, staff was friendly, drinks were plentiful, and the cruise was just the right length of time (about a half-day). We had plenty of time to swim and snorkel at our two stops. Lunch and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) were included in the price.
